Premiership Football club updates their Trade Marks with HLBBshaw

HLBBshaw has recently filed five new trade mark applications for the newly promoted Premiership football club, Burnley F.C, one of a number of its clients in the sports sector. Burnley F.C's new status in the premiership means that the likelihood of parties wishing to copy their marks and sell unofficial merchandise will undoubtedly increase. HLBBshaw worked closely with Burnley FC to ensure coverage of goods and services matched their present revenue stream and their future brand development in light of Arsenal v Reed and other recent case law.

Rob White, Senior Trade Mark Attorney with HLBBshaw says "This demonstrates why all brand owners should review their present portfolios with HLBBshaw as to the adequacy of the coverage of goods and services and whether revenue streams have expanded over time. If situations have changed, the need for new protection may now be relevant or the brand owner can be left exposed to fake goods damaging the house brand".
